Marketplace seller frequently asked questions

What is the Marketplace?

The Marketplace is a feature of TextbookRush that allows booksellers (including students and individuals) to list their items for sale on TextbookRush.

Is there a charge?

There is no charge to list your items for sale on TextbookRush. If your item sells, TextbookRush will deduct a small commission (15%) from the item’s selling price or 15 cents per item, whichever is larger.

Do you offer a shipping credit?

We have the most generous shipping credit policy in the industry. We give you 100% of what we collect. That’s $2.99 for standard and $5.49 for expedited.

How do I get paid?

We offer several payment options for marketplace sellers:

  • Check (by mail)
  • PayPal
  • ACH (Direct Deposit) (for US bank accounts only)

Payments are made twice a month and all purchases are cleared 30 days after the initial purchase date. This method ensures no chargebacks for returns.

What kinds of books can I list? What about international and instructor’s editions?

You can list any type of book you like. TextbookRush is the first (and only) marketplace on the Web to support all types of books -- including international, instructors, and annotated editions.

How do I list my books?

You can list your books one at a time (recommended for individual sellers) via the Web, many at a time via the Web, or in bulk via our automation interfaces (we support many different file formats). If you are interested in volume selling, please contact us. You can list as many books as you like. Your listings stay active until they sell or you end them. As a marketplace seller, it is your responsibility to ensure that book traits such as international edition, instructors edition, etc., are properly noted and maintained with all titles you list.

Is it safe?

Yes. TextbookRush guarantees that our customers will be satisfied with all Marketplace sellers and buyers. Our Trusty Guarantee ensures the protection of all Marketplace customers.

How do I sign up?

We are not accepting applications to become a Marketplace seller at this time. Please check again later. Thank you.

Why does TextbookRush require marketplace sellers to enter a valid credit card?

There are two reasons why TextbookRush requires all marketplace sellers to enter a valid credit card number for their seller account. First, it will protect customers and benefit sellers by helping to minimize fraud. Secondly, a credit card will provide an efficient method to collect outstanding credit balances due to TextbookRush. TextbookRush greatly values all of our marketplace sellers and we are committed to creating a safe and efficient venue for them to do business.

Do I have to enter a credit card?

Yes. This requirement applies to all marketplace sellers.

When will my credit card be charged?

Your credit card will only be charged if your account is “in the red” at the end of the billing cycle.

What happens if I do not wish to enter my credit card number?

You will be unable to create a seller account.

Will I receive a notification when my credit card is charged?

Yes. Sellers who are “in the red” at the end of a billing cycle will receive an email stating their card was charged for the negative balance.

What happens if my credit card expires or changes?

Accounts with expired or invalid cards will have listings and payments temporarily placed on hold until the card information is updated.

Where do I go to change my credit card information?

Marketplace sellers may change their credit card information from the My Account page.

Do you keep a record of the CSC (security code) number on the back of the credit card?

May I list items other than books such as DVDs, CDs, or other products on the Marketplace?

Can I list books without ISBNs?
