Caroline Cooney was born in 1947 in Geneva, New York. She was raised in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. Cooney attended Greenwich High School in 1965 and then various colleges, where she studied Music, Art, and English but never graduated. She began writing while in college. Some of her young adult titles include Driver's Ed, Twenty Pageants Later and the Cheerleaders Series.
