Michelle A. Green, MPS, RHIA, FAHIMA, CPC, is a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor at Alfred State College in Alfred, New York. Her teaching responsibilities include health information management, insurance and reimbursement, and ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS level II coding courses. She is an active member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Her numerous teaching honors include the State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, Alfred State College's Alumni Association Teacher of the Year, Who's Who Among America's Teachers, and AHIMA's Educator Award. Mary Jo Bowie, MS, BS, AAS, RHIA, RHIT, owns Health Information Professional Services, a medical record consulting firm in Binghamton, New York, and for more than 15 years has served as an instructor in the Health Information Technology Program at Broome Community College, teaching courses in medical coding, quality assurance, and computers in healthcare. She is also the author of UNDERSTANDING ICD-9-CM, UNDERSTANDING ICD-10-CM/PCS, UNDERSTANDING PROCEDURAL CODING, 2013 ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS WORKBOOK. An active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), she has served on the New York State Health Information Association Board of Directors, where she was… education director and a member of the Ambulatory Coding Guideline Committee.
