Eric C. Westman received a MD from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 1986 and a master's degree in clinical research. He is the director of the Lifestyle Medicine Clinic at Duke University. He specializes in disease prevention, as well as the treatment of obesity, diabetes, and tobacco dependence. He is the author of A Low Carbohydrate, Ketogenic Diet Manual. He is co-author of The New Atkins for a New You: The Ultimate Diet for Shedding Weight and Feeling Great, Cholesterol Clarity, and Keto Clarity. He is also the co-editor of the medical textbook Obesity: Evaluation and Treatment Essentials.

Stephen D. Phinney is a Professor of Medicine Emeritus at the University of California-Davis. He is on the editorial board of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and has twenty-five years of clinical experience as a director of multi-disciplinary weight management programs. He has contributed to numerous books and peer reviewed articles and is an expert in low carb nutrition and metabolism, fatty acids, inflammation, and the metabolic syndrome.

Dr. Jeff S. Volek is an Associate Professor of Kinesiology at the University of Connecticut. He holds a Masters and Ph.D. in Kinesiology and serves on the Editorial Board of Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise and the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research. Jeff is an associate editor at both The Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism and the Review of Diabetic Studies. Dr. Volek has contributed to numerous peer reviewed publications and is an expert on low carb diets, exercise and nutrition, weight loss and dieting, and dietary supplements.
